MILANO-CORTINA 2026: SPORTS IN THE DOLOMITES

Seventy years later, the most eagerly awaited winter sports event returns to the heart of the Dolomites, a majestic UNESCO World Heritage setting. The 54th stage of the Olympic Torch Relay passes through Madonna di Campiglio, the soul of Val Rendena, nestled among the Brenta Dolomites.

The XXV Winter Olympic Games, taking place from 6th to 22nd February 2026, represent a celebration of snow sports and a powerful moment of shared connection. A historic event that shines a spotlight on a region that is a source of great Italian pride, offering unique experiences in unforgettable places to all who have the pleasure of discovering them.

Today, the Olympic Flame — the symbol of the Games — continues its journey of over 12,000 kilometres, touching significant locations across South Tyrol. The journey began in Greece, in the city of Olympia, followed by the official handover to Italy last December, before continuing towards Milan, where the Opening Ceremony will take place.

During its stages in Trentino–Alto Adige, the Flame passed through some of the Dolomites’ most iconic mountain villages and ski resorts, crossing valleys such as Val di Fassa and Val Gardena, and illuminating places of outstanding natural and cultural beauty, including Lake Carezza. It then continued on to Merano, renowned for its thermal baths, reached the heart of Trento, and proceeded towards Cles, Lake Tovel and the Tonale Pass, finally arriving in Madonna di Campiglio along the route from Hotel Crozzon to Piazza Brenta Alta. This itinerary celebrates a region rich in history and natural beauty, intrinsically linked to winter sports.

At the same time, it is also a symbolic journey shared by communities and individuals, highlighting the passion and pride of multiple nations and uniting us in a timeless historic moment: a Flame passed from hand to hand by torchbearers who are not only athletes, but living testimonies of extraordinary stories devoted to sport.

It is a great honour for the people and the unique places of this territory to host such a meaningful event and open themselves to the world. To pay tribute to the winter sports season, the second jewel of the Lefay Collection, set within the ski area of Madonna di Campiglio, also celebrates the harmony between sport and wellbeing through the exclusive ‘Ski & Spa’ and ‘Skiing Week’ offers.
