“M’ILLUMINO DI MENO”: TOGETHER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

It took a dedicated day to remind people to use energy efficiently and without waste: “M’illumino di Meno” (Enlighten me less), the National Day for Energy Saving and Sustainable Lifestyles was first launched by a radio programme in 2005. Today it is supported by institutions, universities, companies and citizens.
There is still much to do to raise awareness of the importance of using energy efficiently. In addition to the growing urgency of environmental protection, this year the necessity to cut energy costs was a further reason to implement those small gestures that can make a difference.

There is still much to do to raise awareness of the importance of using energy efficiently. In addition to the growing urgency of environmental protection, this year the necessity to cut energy costs was a further reason to implement those small gestures that can make a difference.

Gestures that Lefay Resorts & Residences has been putting into practice since the founding of the brand: in addition to respect for the principles of bio-architecture, support for the local area, preference for local suppliers, waste sorting and a sustainable laundry policy, one of the key topics of green practices is certainly energy saving.

First of all, the cutting-edge technologies in both Lefay properties reduce energy consumption. Energy saving is provided by advanced management software, able to minimise energy consumption. In particular, the lighting system receives information from natural light through devices and sensors installed on the external covering, allowing to reduce the artificial lighting levels when sufficient natural light is available, as well as during the night or in case of scarce use.

Furthermore, both the Resorts and the Corporate headquarter boast the most modern systems to produce the majority of the energy consumed in a sustainable way. They are all are equipped with a biomass system, powered by pellet in the Corporate offices and by wood chip in the Resorts, for the production of thermal energy (hot water and heating). Both Resorts boast cogeneration systems, permitting the combined production of electric energy and heat. These two forms of energy, usually produced separately, are created through a waterfall/cascade process in the same plant. This system allows to obtain substantial energy saving thanks to a reduction in the fuel consumption, which in turn means less expenses and less emissions of pollutants and GHG.

The company has kicked off the year 2023 with the installation of two new state-of-the-art photovoltaic systems at both Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda and Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti, ensuring an extra CO2 saving of 37.150 kg per year for the former and 33.170 kg for the latter.

These significant investments can lead to continuous improvement, but they must always be combined with the deep-rooted belief that every small gesture makes a difference. We remind our Guests of them in our Green Book, which lists the necessary actions to be taken to limit energy and water consumption.

M’Illumino di Meno is the recurring theme of this important day, which we are proud to celebrate with you.
